Husband and Wife Team
It is a question we always get asked, how did we meet. I am from Maldivian and my husband is from the UK. We met 10 years ago online and after six months of chatting, I flew to the UK. On the same day, we got married Islamically. It was after 2 years that we got married by British law and after 2 years that we were able to register our marriage in the Maldives. This is because at first, we lived in the UK for a few years, then later moved to the Maldives and currently we're living in Malaysia. I am pursuing my Doctorate in Business Administration at the Asia Metropolitan University (AMU) in Malaysia. We have been here in Malaysia for 2 years and we love everything about Malaysia and have made lifelong friends.

Like any couple, we have our differences but we have learnt to forgive and give space to each other. We have made terrible mistakes in our lives, our future is to be better and help others as much as possible. We may not be the perfect couple or human beings, but we can contribute to society with our knowledge and experience.
Both of us very strong personalities. Both have opinionated views that we differ from each other, however as the years have passed, we have come to love the same things and enjoy life together. We work together as a team, rather than as individuals. Working together as a team has several advantages that benefit both the husband and the wife. We have grown together personally and professionally. We have helped each other to achieve academically over the years, I have completed my second Masters in Business Administration and currently writing my doctorate thesis, while my husband has completed his Associate Degree in the area of Human Resource Management and is currently pursuing his Master's Degree in Sports and Psychology Fitness.
We both joined a Toastmasters International club, MIM Toastmasters Club in Johor Bahru with the purpose of enhancing our public speaking, communication, leadership and networking skills. Both of us have long years of experience in giving public speeches, training and networking but we needed something to keep us going and improving, hence Toastmasters that has helped us immensely in the past year. Soon after joining MIM Toastmasters Club, John-Khalid became the Vice President of Membership and after the Vice President of Public Relationship left to overseas, I have been filling the position for the past 5 months and I have worked hard to bring in guests to the club and 4 have joined from MIM Toastmasters JB Facebook. I develop content, engage and try to create traffic, without spending a single cent. So far, my public relations in social media has gained wide coverage and I have been praised by many members even outside our club.
Us together as usual
Even we lived in UK, Maldives and now Malaysia, people always see us together and people would comment that if one goes, the other goes together. We ensure that we go everywhere together unless we have different things that only one is allowed to go.
Every day, we spend a few minutes to talk and understand each other. Talking helps us to know what the other wants and also to target our goals together. We have different goals in what we want to achieve like my studies but somehow, we manage to match somewhere together.
A husband and wife team has several positive outcomes, we are able to spend time together, we learn from each other, we complement each other. Where one fails, the other step in to support the other, life is more beautiful with a partner in life.
